Yes, and this is a design characteristic rather than a defect. KoKonna uses an E-Ink display with no backlight, zero blue light, and zero flicker, so it relies on ambient light. We recommend placing it in well-lit areas such as living rooms, studies, hallways, or bookshelves.

Like paper artwork, the more ambient light you have, the clearer and more refined the image appears. You can pair it with spotlights to enhance the gallery atmosphere.

Three modes are supported:

• Online mode: connect to Wi-Fi to access full features like AI chat, image generation, and weather/news widgets.
• Display-only mode: when offline, it can keep showing one artwork for a long time with almost no power drain.
• Bluetooth mode: connect via Bluetooth to upload and switch images.

This result comes from lab testing under these conditions: room temperature, connected to Wi-Fi, auto-rotating one classic painting per day, no AI interaction, and sleep interval set to 600 seconds.

• The owner opens "Share Device" in frame settings, then generates and copies the share code.
• The invited account goes to Settings and taps "Add Shared Device".
• Enter the share code to complete setup.
